Intro to Pure Bullshit

So, let us begin. This is ostensibly going to be a film blog. I'm going to try to post reviews/thoughts on films that I see or films that I really like and feel need to be written about. Hopefully, I can keep some consistency with this, but I'm not promising anything. I'm pretty damn forgetful.

As an intro to this blog, here's some shit I would like to make clear:

First, let me proclaim emphatically that I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about. I am not an authority nor an expert. I just like films and am interested in thinking about them. Please always take my opinion lightly and never dogmatically. I am not preaching truth nor do I make claims to knowledge. In fact, in the spirit of Georges Bataille and Maurice Blanchot, this film blog is going to be about non-knowledge and non-truth. That is where the title of the blog comes from. I want to speak about films without either saying or being silent–this is a movement towards non-truth.

Second, I haven't been the most avid film watcher of late. I used to watch films constantly, but have recently focused more on school and literature because that is what I want to do with my life. I'm going to try to watch more films though. I've only seen about 10 films from last year, and really need to catch up on a bunch once the semester is over. So, I won't be posting a top 10 for 2010 until I see all the films I want to see from the year.

Third...Okay, I don't have a third. I just wanted to make it clear that I don't know anything and that I haven't caught up on the films from last year.

I will post my favorite films and directors soon, just as a starting point. Then I may post some defenses of films I think should be defended.

Let's have a blast!

  1. Holy Shit, Dude. I loved you in We Don't Live Here Anymore.

But seriously, Brandon says you are a most trusted movie advisor and so I look forward to your posts.

  2. haha I wish I were Mark Ruffalo...instead I have to be the awful, pasty nerd next to him.

Thank you guys for welcoming me! Brandon, directed me to your blogs and I loved what I have been able to read so far. It's been a pleasure reading your opinions.
